Somerset Maughm said there are three rules of writing. Unfortunately no one knows what they are. It is pretentious for one writer to attempt to teach another how to write. The process of learning will develop each person’s particular voice. Yet one can learn some strategies that make the learning process easier as well as some attitudes and sensitivities that will open the creative process.
