Travel the world

Welcome to Starrbirth.com. The name comes from the combination of two names: Mars Cavers and Wayne Stier. It is obvious how the name ‘Mars’ refers to the sky. Wayne’s last name ‘Stier’ means “star” in Nordic languages. And for the last part, birth, we have dedicated our lives to the creative process.

Over the past forty years Mars & Wayne have been engaged in travel, learning and play.

First it was the theater and seventeen plays in three years. Then we left the midwest and went to Tokyo where Wayne became the second foreigner to perform on the Noh stage in comical Kyogen theater.

We continued to travel the world together visiting countries such as Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Nepal, Egypt, Greece….

These travels led to the first of many books Wide Eyes in Burma and Thailand: Finding Your Way co-authored by Mars and Wayne and published by Mars through our own Meru Publishing company.

Wayne continues to write. Mars continues to publish. Check the list of titles for details.

Around the year 2000 Wayne found a chisel on his work bench and began to sculpt Hawaiian hard woods such as koa and lama, a type of ebony. The results are amazing. Take a stroll through the wood gallery.

In 2008 Wayne broke his left arm so he couldn’t hold the chisel to sculpt, nor could he use the typewriter to write. The paper moved when he tried to draw a line so he put dots on paper reinventing pointillism. Enjoy the gallery. Feel free to sit down with the images and watch the colors dance.
